I first met Karen at Lewis and Clark College and will always remember her willingness to talk about my latest crush, listen to music and share numerous college experiences. It was my good fortune to have stayed in contact with her throughout the years. My heart has this hole in it that will fill with memories of her smile, generosity, sincerity and love of life. To the Froman and Melchor family, my prayers will include peace for you all. Marilyn

All we can do is be thankful for times together and grow with the strength this experience has given us. You are in my prayers, as well as my thoughts, every minute. God couldn't have gotten a better Angel!!!

Dear Melchor-Froman Family, We will miss seeing Karen's friendly smile every time she and Bill were visiting her parents (our employer) in Los Altos Hills. Her ,unexpected passing has left us with many indelible memories as were I.e: her kind words of encouragement to forge ahead when our daughter was away in college at Willamette University. To each and every one in the family we extend our heartfelt sympathy and though she's gone away from sight she will always live in our hearts. With much love, George & Lilian Cortez

Karen and I played in the same bridge club for 30 years. She was the best joke teller. We shared a love for travel. She e-mailed me in 2003 telling me about a zoo trip to Churchill, Manitoba, to see the polar bears. I got on it and signed up. Then I found out she wasn't going--nevertheless, it was one of my most memorable trips. Bud said to me recently that she was one of the smartest women he had ever met--high praise I thought. But it was r down-to-earth demeanor that I loved. Our bridge group will not be the same without her.

What a beautiful slide show of Karen's life, family, friends and the fun she had living life! I will so miss Karen's smile and her wonderful sense of humor. She could deliver a joke like no one else and always had a fun one to tell at bridge. Our evening bridge group just won't be the same without her! At least we have wonderful memories of our last couples Christmas dinner at the Fromans beautiful new home in Vancouver...Karen was so proud to show it to us...and rightly so. We all shared many a story of kids, grandchildren, travels and adventures...Karen loved telling us about them all. I will miss you Karen. John joins me in our disbelief of a life taken way too soon and so quickly...and in prayers for you, Bill, and the children. God bless. XO Nancy

Our lunch group has been together for over 25 years. Lots of good food, good times, stories, and no one could tell a story or joke like Karen. She was so full of life. It was so evident that Karen loved her family & adored her grandson. She always had new pictures of him to share...she was so proud. I'd like to thank the Froman family for sharing so many wonderful pictures of Karen's life. Even as a child there was the Karen "look" & Karen "smile" that was so much a part of her as an adult. Our hearts are hurting. She was taken from us much too soon & we will truly miss her.

The Spear family sends hugs and kisses. I am blessed to have shared so very many "mother" and "grandmother" joys together along with just as many golfing "girlfriend" times with Karen. I know that my sadness will be healed by Karen herself...because she always put a lovely perspective on every situation and I know that her kind humor will ring in my ear forever and my memories of her gentle nature will comfort me. Karen always made me smile! Love, Marilyn Spear

How do you accept the death of a younger? The past week I find myself stopping....mid-cooking, cleaning, whatever. A prayer comes to mind - or just asking God to embrace "our story-teller" Karen and Bill entered our lives thru W.P.L.C., over 25 years ago. I always felt a bond with her as we were both Bay Area Brats. Karen was the most down to earth lady. We did not have the school bond as our children went to different schools but we had the children to talk about. I can't think of Karen and not remember her coming to a luncheon and telling the story of the month before. She was driving by our home and saw many cars. "Oh", she thought, "Lynn must be having company". A day or so later she realized it was a Luncheon Group gathering. My prayers now go to Bill and the children and Collin..... Karen you will never be forgotten. P>S> Collin - I hope many more friends of "gram" will write you little stories. Love, Lynn O'
